DLE is chiefly used as retanning agent for the
production of white, lightfast leathers. On leathers to
be dyed, the levelness of the resultant shades and the
light fastness of the tanned leather are improved. |

DLE is a fine off white readily water soluble powder.
This synthetic tanning agent is comparable with
synthetic and vegetable tannins and inert to salts. |

In
self-tannage Jktan DLE gives white lightfast leathers
with good fullness and a mild handle. Retannage of
chrome leathers with this products results in pure white
leathers of good light fastness are with a fine, smooth
tight grain which has good buffing properties. |
